In a show of generosity, the Rotary E-Club of Ghana has undertaken a series of impactful initiatives to assist some institutions at Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. The beneficiary institutions are Cape Coast School of the Deaf and Blind, Ghana National College, and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
Giving back to society creates a sense of self-belonging and for persons supporting this cause, this is their way of helping the community. With the 2023- 24 Rotary year theme “Create Hope in the World”, members of the Rotary E-Club of Ghana in partnership with the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central were in Cape Coast for the humanitarian exercise in line with Rotary’s key areas of focus.
Rotary E-Club Of Ghana Donates to Cape Coast School of the Deaf and Blind
Through their intensive efforts, the clubs have successfully, donated nebulizers to the Cape Coast School of the Deaf and Blind. The gesture aims to provide improved respiratory support to the students, ensuring their overall well-being. The headmaster of the Cape Coast School of the Deaf and Blind Mr. Abraham Annan Yemoson thanked the club for the gift saying “ It will serve as a first aid for asthmatic patients so that we can avoid fatalities in our school. I want to use this occasion to express my sincere appreciation to the club for the good work they have done and we hope that we will continue to collaborate in many other areas for the benefit of our school and their organization”.
Rotary E-Club Of Ghana Donates nebulizers to the Ghana National College
Next, the Rotary E-Club of Ghana, the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central, and the Rotaract Club of Weija also made another donation of nebulizers to the Ghana National College for use as first aid for asthmatic students before they get to the hospital, when in crisis. The headmaster of the school Mr. Joseph Sarpong thanked the donors.
He said “ We are so grateful for the honor that the Rotary E club of Ghana and the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central has given Ghana National College. Indeed, these are the things we need in our girl’s dormitory and we believe this presentation has come at the right time especially when new students are coming on Monday”.
The head girl of Ghana National College Miss Jennifer Kwao was happy about the donation saying “As a school, we are so much grateful to the clubs for coming to make this donation to our school because it will help save the lives of our students and so we are so much grateful to all Rotarians for their kind gesture”
Providing financial assistance to Newborn mothers at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital
The Rotary E-Club of Ghana and the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central further provided financial assistance worth GH¢ 10,300 to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. This financial aid specifically targeted mothers and their children who had been discharged but could not settle their medical bills. The management of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital was also grateful for the gesture. For 17-year-old Emmanuella Adjei who gave birth to twins, and her mates at the ward, it was tears of Joy. By alleviating the financial stress, the Rotary E-Club of Ghana helped to reunite the patients with their respective families.

The President of the Rotary E-Club of Ghana, Rotarian Efua Dougan was satisfied with this initiative and said the club was happy to be of benefit in their time of need.
On the motivation for the exercise, the Rotary E-Club of Ghana President Efua Dougan said “ Rotary’s main focus is always to serve our communities and give back to our communities. For the Rotary E-Club of Ghana, after our charter we had always hoped to do something impactful for the communities that we are in or our members come from and so we had to consider reaching out to the people in Cape Coast on this project”.
She empathized that the gesture is in line with Rotary’s key areas of focus, including maternal and child healthcare, and disease prevention and treatment.
Commitment to deliver by Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central
For her part, the president of the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central, Mrs. Laurentia Ntwia expressed her appreciation to the board and members of the various clubs whose support made the exercise possible. She said “With Rotary, it is always about ’service above self’ and we pray and hope that what we did here today will go a long way to help the beneficiaries and their families”.
Rotary E-Club of Ghana and the Rotary Club of Cape Coast Central believe these benevolent acts underline their efforts to make a positive impact in the lives of those facing various hardships. By this act of kindness in the month of Christmas, the Rotary E-Club of Ghana reinforces the power of humanitarianism.
