Rotary Clubs in Ghana Marks Rotary’s 119 Years

Background

Rotary Clubs in Ghana -Rotary District 9104 convened an inter-city meeting to honor the 119th anniversary of Rotary International and the 65th anniversary of Rotary in Ghana. Marking this significant milestone, various Rotarians congregated to dialogue on the pressing theme, "High Ethical Standards: An Endangered Trait in an Unethical Ecosystem."

Dignitaries Present

Present at the event were the District Governor, Past District Governors, District Governor nominee, Assistant Governors, Past Assistant Governors, Past Rotary Presidents, Presidents and members of sister club who reflect on Rotary's rich legacy of service and ethical leadership. Also, they engaged in discussions on the challenges posed by contemporary ethical dilemmas in today's society.

The keynote lecture, was delivered by a Past Rotary President of the Rotary Club of Accra East, Rotarian David Ofosu-Dorte. He emphasized the critical importance of upholding high ethical standards in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. 

Remarks By The District Governor

The District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Rotarian David Osei Amankwa said Rotary clubs in Ghana will continue to undertake projects that meet their desired aspirations.

“We have symbolic footprints across the globe that signifies the tremendous impact we have made since our establishment. As members of Rotary, we are all united by a common goal. A common goal to serve our communities to promote peace and advance understanding and goodwill throughout the world" .

The District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Rotarian David Osei Amankwa also urge Rotarians in all 65 Rotary clubs in Ghana to reflect on the collective efforts on where the stand, where they plane be at the end of the Rotary year. "Rotary is indeed a unique global movement, one that comprises dedicated individuals working on a mission to make an impact”. 

Conclusion

Rotary District 1904 also launched its Mental health Support Line. The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among attendees, as they pledged to continue Rotary's mission of making a positive impact on society while upholding the highest ethical standards. Rotary International, founded on February 23rd, 1905, has continued with its commitment to service above self for nearly two centuries, inspiring generations of Rotarians to effect meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
