Christmas The Season of Love

Christmas the festive season of love is here once again. A festive Christmas party celebration has therefore been organized for children with special needs. The event by the Rotary Club of Accra West is aimed at providing a joyful and inclusive environment for the children to socialize, participate in fun activities, and kick-start the festive celebration.

The event took place at the Yiri Lodge at the University of Ghana in Accra.

First of all, the Rotary Club of Accra West and its sponsors spared no effort in creating a magical experience for these children. Embracing the club’s commitment to serving and positively impacting lives, this initiative aimed to ensure that every child in attendance felt included and cherished, feeling a sense of belonging and joy.

The Array of Activities at the Christmas Party

Interestingly, the Christmas party offered an array of activities catered to the needs and preferences of the children. From dancing, fun activities, food, cutting of cakes, popping of champagne, and distribution of gifts, every moment was crafted to ignite smiles and create lasting memories.

Making The Christmas Party Possible

Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Accra West received some support from ayo MTN and Mrs. Mercy Araba Sika Tobin, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Tobacco Group to bring the event to life. The shared dedication and support underscored the importance of inclusiveness and empathy, showcasing the kindness and compassion Rotary Club of Accra West embodies.

Beneficiary Children

The beneficiary children were from, Dzorwulu Special School in Accra, Akropong School for the Blind in Akropong in the Eastern Region of Ghana, New Horizon School in Accra, Osu Children’s Home in Accra, and Mampong School for the Deaf at Mampong also in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Point of View by President of Rotary Club of Accra West

Club President of Rotary Club of Accra West, Rotarian Kingsley Fiagbedzi expressed gratitude to the club members and sponsors whose collective efforts made the event possible.

“We wanted to create an unforgettable experience where these children, who are often marginalized could feel cherished and celebrated. The joy and happiness we saw on their faces were truly priceless.  Before the 25th of December, we organize this much earlier to usher in the Christmas so that they will have the feeling that, there are people somewhere that care about us’” Rotarian President  Kingsley Fiagbedzi said.

Success Of Event Held

Another key point, spoken about was the satisfaction with the event, the Rotary President said, “We are always fulfilled when we see the children happily dancing, moving around, we feel that the service that we have put on ourselves to give to the deprived, we are fulfilling that cause”. 

The Next Christmas Party

Compared to previous events, Rotarian Kingleys Fiagbedzi said the club seeks to improve upon previous years and assured of the club’s commitment to continue to host the event. “ Next year, we will be adding more activities to make them happy. The most important thing is putting smiles on their faces”. He added.

Sidelines With President-Elect of Rotary Club of Accra West

For her part, the President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Accra West, Rotarian Victoria Esinam Assah-Offei said ” For me, the 2023 Christmas party for Children with Special Needs has been very successful. Judging from the excited moods of these Special Children, I feel a sense of fulfillment”.

Furthermore, Rotarian Victoria Esinam Assah-Offei who led the planning of the Christmas party added “You can see from their verbal and nonverbal communications that the Children and Carers are appreciative”

She further stated “The Christmas party for Children with Special Needs is the Rotary Club of Accra West’s legacy project, which is chaired by the club’s President-Elect, and chairing the 2023 event successfully is a fulfillment that words cannot express. My sincere thanks go to my club members, media persons like you, and our sponsors who helped to chalk this success. God bless us all”. Says President Elected Victoria Esinam Assah-Offei.

The Call for Love for Children With Special Needs

Meanwhile, a representative of the wife of the Executive Chairman of Tobacco Group, Mercy Araba Sika Tobin, called on caregivers not to lose hope in the children assuring them of a beautiful end. “ As you take them through the lessons, as you teach them, please do it with all the love,” she said.

Impact of Christmas Party on Children With Special Needs

Overall, as the event concluded, children were left with hearts full of joy, gifts in hand, and memories forever in their minds. The Rotary Club of Accra West’s commitment to serving the community, especially children with special needs, remains steadfast, and their efforts to make a difference continue beyond this joyous occasion.
