Freemasons donate to children’s Hospital in Ghana

Freemasons donate to children's Hospital in Ghana

Freemasons of Sir Charles Tachie-Menson Lodge have donated medical supplies to the Princess Marie Louis Children's Hospital in Accra. 


Under the auspices of the District Grand Lodge of Ghana under the Grand Lodge of England, the items are aimed at enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide critical healthcare services to children from across the country.

Items donated by the Freemason Society

Items donated include a pulse oximeter, oxygen cylinder, bag valve mask, infant weighing scale, sphygmomanometer, nebulizers,  auto scopes, flow meter, BP Calf for children, and cot sheets among others. 

Rationale for donation

This initiative aligns with the Lodge's yearly commitment to philanthropy by channeling its resources towards selected institutions.

The donation comes at a time when healthcare facilities across Ghana are under increasing pressure to meet the demands of a growing population, particularly in pediatric care.

Point of View by Worshipful Master

Presenting the items, the Worshipful Master of the Freemasons of Sir Charles Tachie-Menson Lodge, John Ofori Gyamfi said: “Every year, every lodge has to do a charity project and as a result, we Sir Charles Techie-Menson Lodge took upon ourselves to donate at the Princess Marie Louise Hospital".

Touching on why the children's hospital, the Worshipful Master disclosed that, in previous years, the Lodge has undertaken several donations in various hospitals and so decided to donate to Princess Marie Louise Hospital to be able to check on the infants at the hospital.

"We have heard about the kwashiorkor patient. We were touched that's why we came in to support". He pointed out

Perception Towards Freemasons in Ghana

The Worshipful Master expressed that it used to be a challenge conveying the true nature of Freemasonry to others, emphasizing that it is fundamentally about charity and fostering brotherly love.

"'Freemasons do a lot of charity projects for the society. Charity, benevolence, and brotherly love are what we prophesy all the time" -He revealed.

GoingForwad

Going forward, he said that they want to embark on more charitable projects. "Freemason is over 300 years now so we have been encouraged to do more charity so that others will see our works in society”. 

The Appreciation from the Hospital

The hospital’s staff expressed deep appreciation for the items, highlighting their importance in ensuring the continuous delivery of high-quality care. They expressed the hope the Freemasons would keep the Princess Marie Louise Hospital in their charitable thoughts.
