Caring Acts. In a display of compassion and faith-driven outreach, Seli Ministries, a Christian NGO has extended a helping hand to the vulnerable street children of Accra. The monthly charity campaign which is one of the arms of the Jesus Hope Mission saw the team taking the February edition to Kaneshie First Light in Accra.

On a mission to alleviate hunger and offer spiritual support, the organization embarked on an act of kindness initiative where they distributed food and shared the gospel message. Self Ministries “Jesus Hope Mission” initiative seeks to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who are overlooked by society. With hearts filled with compassion, the team distributed nutritious meals to the eager recipients, providing sustenance to ease them from the hardships of street life.

They engaged in heartfelt conversations, sharing the timeless message of love, grace, and redemption found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Speaking to Raymond News, the Executive Director of Self Ministries, Mrs. Selikem Acolaste Apaloo said their motivation is driven by the love of Christ. “He came and he gave his word to change us. But you cannot give somebody the word without feeding them when they are hungry, without clothing them”. she said.

Mrs. Selikem Akolaste Apaloo added that most of the children are from Niger and seeing their vulnerability, they decided to embark on the drive to feed them every month.

Identifying Hotspots

Speaking on how they can identify these children, the Executive Director of Seli Ministries, Mrs. Selikem Acolaste Apaloo said “If you drive around Accra, you find that these people will come to your car begging for money, And so we have taken note of these places”.

The Wayforward

Mrs. Selikem Acolaste Apaloo reaffirmed the ministry’s drive to continue with the initiative anticipating that, they hope they can expand it and it will be bigger.

Conclusion

The initiative not only provided tangible relief to the immediate needs of these street children and their mothers but also fostered moments of connection and empathy, bridging divides and fostering a sense of community. In a world often marked by division and indifference, Seli Ministries‘ holistic approach reminds us that, every little act of kindness can make a positive change in the lives of those who need it most.
