Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has praised the exceptional ability of  Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate  in the 2024 elections.

Bawumia Gets Kufour’s Endorsement for Election 2024

According to the former president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best candidate to revive the fortunes of the economy if he is elected in the forthcoming December elections as Ghana’s president. 

Kufour’s Conversation

In a conversation with journalists on Sunday evening, November 17, the former President urged Ghanaians to rally behind  Dr. Bawumia. 

Mr. Kufuor reiterated his conviction that Dr. Bawumia is ideally suited to bring about the economic transformation that Ghana requires, urging the electorate to acknowledge his capabilities and endorse his vision for the country’s future.

Kufour’s point of view

“In light of the current global situation, I firmly believe that Ghana’s economy will see substantial improvement if Bawumia is elected as President. With divine guidance, he possesses the ability to fulfill this promise, and I encourage you to support his candidacy. He said.

Bawumia’s commendation

Interestingly, Mr Kufuor commended Dr Bawumia for his previous success in collaboration with the Bank of Ghana, which notably contributed to the stabilisation of the local currency during Mr Kufuor’s time in office.

Bawumia’s Expertise came to the fore

He however, emphasized that such expertise would be crucial in steering Ghana’s economy towards a more prosperous future.

“I have witnessed his remarkable abilities in economic enhancement during my tenure, as he was a key member of the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr. Paul Acquah, contributing significantly to the revival of the currency,” he remarked.

President Kufour’s Tenure

Meanwhile, Mr Kufour served as Ghana’s president from 2001 to 2008. He started the National Health Insurance Scheme to replace the existent cash-and-carry system; 11 million Ghanaians were registered under this scheme. He set up the National Ambulance Service and built more than 205 hospitals and clinics.
