In its bid to reduce maternal mortality in the country, Rotary Club of Accra-La East has donated neonatal medical equipment to the LEKMA hospital in Accra.

The donated medical equipment include a mobile phototherapy unit, a Continuous Positive Airways Pressure ( CPAP machine ) a mobile oxygenation unit with a condenser among others all at a cost some Seventy, thousand Ghana cedis.
The President of the Rotary Club of Accra-La East Rotarian President Julia Asante Anim said, the project was one of the community service project of the club to humanity.
“The drive for the donation of the neonatal medical equipment was upon an engagement with management of the hospital where it came up that the infant mortality rate at the hospital was much higher than the national average”- The President said.
The District Governor of Rotary District 9102, Mr Victor Asante said the donation will have a significant impact on the care provided to the smallest and most vulnerable patients stressing that the ultimate aim of Rotary is to work with communities to do good.
The Medical Superintendent of LEKMA hospital, Dr Akua Gyimah-Asante, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for their generous donation and commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of premature babies and their families in the community.
The Rotary club also inspected the refurbished project it carried out including painting of the Pediatric ward of he LEKMA hospital.
