Rotary Club of Accra-Achimota Grey City Joins Rotary Family

The Rotary Club of Accra-Achimota Grey City has held a Charter night event to officially gain recognition as a Club in District 9104. It was also a night to raise funds for a planned project in support of the educational needs of Abofu Presbyterian Basic School in Accra.

The Rotary Club of Accra-Achimota Grey City is the newest in the Ghana District 9104. The Charter Presentation night marked a significant milestone for the Club, as it officially became a recognized Rotary club within the international network of service clubs. Dignitaries from various Rotary clubs, including District Governor David Osei Amankwah, were at the event to inaugurate the club.

Through a variety of fundraising activities, including auctions, raffles, and generous donations from attendees, the Rotary Club of Accra Achimota Grey City successfully raised a good amount. These funds will be utilized to improve infrastructure and provide educational materials to students at the Abofu Presbyterian Basic School.

The District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Mr David Osei Amankwah said Rotary needs more hands for service projects by pooling resources to make an impact within the respective communities and beyond. 

“Rotary needs more hands to undertake all the service projects that have currency in our minds. We need more members to pool resources together to make things happen for the benefit of communities and humanity. We need to grow our influence also within and without of our communities but most importantly be recognizable for the good we do and may we continuely to remind ourselves of the phrase “we make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give’’.-David Osei Amankwah said.

The President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Achimota Grey City, Rotarian Maxwell Quaye Hammond was grateful to all the attendees, sponsors, and supporters for their unwavering commitment towards making the ceremony a resounding success. He mentioned that the generous contributions would without a doubt have a lasting impact on the Abofu Presbyterian Basic School and the lives of its students.

“As we join the Rotary network of over 1.4 million neighbors, friends and leaders, we cannot drop the ball but rather aimed to go over and beyond to make our presences felt in a positive way. Let us now raise our glasses not  only to the birth of a new rotary club but also to the boundless potentials that lies ahead. May the spirit of Rotary guide us, empower us and inspire us to lead with integrity and compassion, making our community and the world a better place for generations to come.” -Maxwell Quaye Hammond added.

There were solidarity and congratulatory messages from the Ghana Extension Committee presented by a Past district GovernorJeffery Afful, an overview of the organizational process of the rotary club of Accra Achimota grey city by Assistant Governor, Sam Konadu -Asare.

Also present at the charter night were past and current presidents of sister Rotary clubs.

Some key highlights at the event were the presentation of the charter certificate and chain of office to the club president, the fixing of Rotary pins and the introduction of charter members and board members.  With this charter presentation night and fundraising ceremony, the Rotary Club of Accra-Achimota Grey City has demonstrated its dedication to improving the lives of individuals by supporting educational endeavors in their local community.

Club members are on course with their mission to create positive change through service projects and charitable activities throughout Accra. And with the support of like-minded individuals and organizations, the club aims to uplift and transform the lives of individuals with one project at a time.
